Evaluation

Evaluation

Before you undergo any procedure at our office, you'll have a comprehensive consultation appointment with your surgeon.  This provides valuable one-on-one time for your surgeon to evaluate your x-rays, perform a comprehensive examination, review your referring doctors treatment plan, and consider all possible solutions to your condition.

It also provides time for the two of you to discuss concerns, questions, and pre- and post-surgery instructions.  Topics discussed include your sedation preferences, what to expect throughout your treatment, anticipated surgical results, and any other topics of concern.

We want your treatment at Red Hills Oral & Facial Surgery to be as comfortable and straightforward as possible.  Below are brief highlights of the services we provide.  Please review them, and be sure to write down any questions you have so that we may address them during your consultation appointment.

Sedation

Minimize Discomfort and Anxiety

Red Hills Oral & Facial Surgery offers our patients the option of intravenous sedation, also referred to as IV sedation or IV anesthesia.  IV sedation helps you to be as comfortable as possible throughout your procedure.  It significantly reduces the pain and anxiety associated with your procedure.

Extensive Training & Experience

As Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Drs. Walther and Joy have received extensive training in the evaluation of patients and administration of anesthetics.  During residency training time is spent with the medical anesthesiology and general surgery services.  Drs. Walther and Joy have extensive training in the administration of intravenous and inhalational anesthetics, as well as non-surgical and surgical airway management.  Drs. Walther and Joy are proficient in recognizing and managing complications and emergencies that may arise during the administration of anesthesia.

Most importantly, because of their training they are well suited to evaluate you prior to your surgery to determine if you are healthy enough to undergo anesthesia in an office-based setting. As active operating staff members at Capital Regional Medical Center, treatment under general anesthesia is always an option. In selecting a provider to manage your discomfort and anxiety with IV sedation, it is important to understand that Drs. Walther and Joy are uniquely qualified to provide a safe environment for your treatment.

The team at Red Hills Oral & Facial Surgery has the experience and commitment to safety to provide your treatment in a relaxing and comfortable environment.
