Russell Walther, DDS, MD

Dr. Russell Walther is the founder of Red Hills Oral & Facial Surgery.  A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Walther attended Texas A&M University earning a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science.  He attended Baylor College of Dentistry earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery.  While at Baylor, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and was the recipient of the Baylor Oral Health Foundation Centennial Award.  Dr. Walther then went on to earn his Medical Degree from the University of Florida.  

Dr. Walther completed an internship in General Surgery and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida.  During his final year of training at UF, he served as the Chief Resident of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service.  Dr. Walther holds active medical and dental licenses in Florida.  He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Walther's current clinical practice is focused on dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, TMJ surgery, pathology, and corrective jaw surgery.  Additionally, he is active in providing care to patients with facial trauma at HCA Florida Capital Hospital.    

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Walther has authored several book chapters and papers on TMJ arthrocentesis, facial trauma, and surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.  He has several patents filed on facial fracture stabilization devices.  He has presented on various topics in medicine and dentistry.

Dr. Walther enjoys volunteering his time and skills abroad having traveled to Central America and West Africa on surgical mission trips.  In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family.

 

 

Dr. Marcus Joy joined Red Hills Oral & Facial Surgery after completing his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Ohio State University. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Joy attended Ohio State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He attended Ohio State University earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery. During his tenure at Ohio State, he maintained academic status on the Dean’s List.

Dr. Joy’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Ohio State University included rotations in General Surgery, Anesthesia, and Internal Medicine. He served as the Chief Resident of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service. He holds an active Florida dental license. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

His current clinical practice focuses on outpatient anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, and dental implant placement. He additionally evaluates and manages patients with oral and maxillofacial pathology, TMJ disorders, and dentofacial deformities.

Dr. Joy has multiple publications and presentations in pharmaceutical sciences and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

While away from his surgical practice, Dr. Joy enjoys spending time along the “forgotten coast” with his family.
